چکیده

Abstract Introduction Insomnia is associated with neurodegenerative diseases. Concentration levels of some metabolites are pathophysiologic changes, possibly in a sex-specific manner. Thus, serum metabolite useful for understanding insomnia-related pathophysiological changes and how they potentially relate to disease. Methods The Hispanic Community Health Study/Study Latinos (HCHS/SOL) longitudinal cohort study following self-reported Hispanic/Latino individuals the U.S. At baseline, insomnia symptoms were captured using Women Initiative Rating Scale (WHIIRS), being defined as WHIIRS≥9. Metabolites measured blood from baseline exam independent discovery replication datasets. In discovery, associations WHIIRS estimated linear regression. Significant (FDR p-values< 0.05) tested dataset considered replicated if their p-value< 0.05 direction association matched analysis. Associations further studied gender interaction. All analyses adjusted age, gender, center, background. Results 3,895 participated analysis, 2,121 Female aged 46.5 on average (SD 15.1) 35% had insomnia, while male 44.8 (14.8) 24% insomnia. After quality control, 767 association. Six (FDR< gender-combined Three xenobiotics which benzoate or salicylic acid metabolism pathway. Of 6 associations, two (p-value< 0.05): hydrocinnamate indolepropionate. These spearman correlation 0.44. Higher both lower WHIIRS, showing stronger females (interaction p-value =0.04 p-value=0.13 indolepropionate). remained essentially unchanged model adjusting hypertension diabetes. When removing 534 who sleeping pills at least once week, attenuated slightly: an effect estimates -0.0075 -0.0069 (hydrocinnamate) -0.0082 -0.0068 (indolepropionate). Conclusion Among HCHS/SOL target population, symptom severity concentrations plasma important antioxidant needed preventing oxidative stress neurodegeneration. Support (if any) R01HL161012.
